I had always needed and wanted braces as a child, but my parents never had the means to provide them. As an adult I had wanted for many years to pursue straightening my teeth. With the emergence of Invisalign, the decision became much easier. What was more difficult, however, was the choice of professionals to assist with this process. I received postcards weekly from local dentists and orthodontists offering their services. Upon the recommendation of a friend, I chose Dr. Darren Loew at Loew Orthodontics in Flemington, and couldn’t be happier that I did.
Before my appointment, I had researched Dr. Loew and was impressed by his education and background. I was also impressed by the fact that he continues to teach orthodontic residents. As a university professor, I understand that teaching requires keeping up with the latest information in your field. With the continued advancements being made in the field of orthodontics, being current and innovative was extremely important to me. I found Dr. Loew to exceed my expectations in both of these areas.
Not having had experience with an orthodontist as a child, I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I first walked in to Loew Orthodontics. I work with children for a living, and my first impression of Loew Orthodontics was that it established a friendly and fun atmosphere perfect for children. However, as an adult, I was at first skeptical that an orthodontist who served a multitude of children could meet my needs. I learned that this skepticism was unfounded. Dr. Loew and the staff at Loew Orthodontics have been friendly, courteous, and professional throughout my time as a patient. His assistants are sensitive to the needs of adults that sometimes differ from those of children, including a private examination/treatment room for adults. It was a relief to know that Dr. Loew’s office was equipped to handle my needs, both in terms of my teeth and my personal comfort.
From the beginning Dr. Loew was honest with me that he wasn’t sure he could correct my longstanding open bite with Invisalign or even traditional braces. Upon my insistence, he was willing to try. One of the things I appreciate most about Dr. Loew is his true professionalism reflected in his honesty about what is and is not known in his field. As a professional and researcher myself, I realize that often we don’t yet have the hard data to show that something works. There has to first be a professional on the front lines who is willing to be an innovator and to try out a new method.
Throughout the three plus years I was a patient of Dr. Loew’s, he was always willing to be that innovator. Invisalign quickly and effectively remedied my open bite. However, I had other issues to deal with, including one stubborn tooth from a series of crowded teeth that would not right itself. Dr. Loew was persistent in his efforts to follow through with the Invisalign process, but as he predicted, it eventually came to the point where the tooth was too stubborn. Knowing that he could fix the tooth with traditional braces, but not wanting to compromise the rest of my alignment achieved with Invisalign, Dr. Loew fashioned a combination of Invisalign and traditional braces to achieve both goals. The results were quick and effective. I don’t know how many other professionals would take on the complexity of this situation with such an innovative approach. It is a strong illustration of Dr. Loew’s commitment to helping his patients achieve the best results possible.
I have no regrets about my choice of orthodontist to help me achieve a lifelong goal of a beautiful smile. I am thankful that my friend steered me in this direction. I will always be grateful to Dr. Loew and his staff for giving me more reasons to smile. For anyone looking for an orthodontic practice where professionalism, innovation, and patient care are the first priority, I strongly recommend you try Loew Orthodontics. You will not be disappointed with your choice.
